Throughout the course of history, sex as a biological variable has interacted with
social and cultural practices related to gender over the life course of people. These
age-dependent interactions and calendar-time-dependent interactions contribute to
health and disease, especially in the later part of life, during aging [

persons who undergo gender-affirming treatment [
